About the CRC
|
The Conservation and Recreation Campaign, a project of Environment Massachusetts, is dedicated to ensuring that every citizen of the cities, suburbs, and rural towns of Massachusetts has access to affordable, clean, and well-managed public land.
The Campaign began with market research to determine how the people of Massachusetts use our parks and open lands and what we are willing to pay to support them. We will also:
- Identify the most innovative and effective public financing mechanisms for funding the management of public land;
- Work with the legislature and the Governor to broaden our understanding of the challenges facing managers of public lands and to identify the most cost-effective ways to correct problems;
- Recruit support from the private sector;
- Define measurable goals that are aligned with the desires and expectations of the general public;
- Work to expand the network of advocates and activists for our public lands.
Our immediate goal is to increase awareness among the general public, business leaders, and key government officials of the declining quality of our public spaces and to build a consensus of support for increasing our investment in these resources ( From Leader To Last ). |
